Imperialism is when one superior country dominates their authority on other weaker or smaller countries. The concept of manifest destiny had dies down during the Civil Rights movement, but now that things were slowing down, the urgency of the United States to move to the West was more prevalent. By taking the path of imperialism the United States better molded their foreign policies with acquisitions, increasing comparison with Europe, and economic benefits. As America ventured on its exploration for imperialism their dominance grew through the world. After the dominance of Hawaii, America went after Cuba.
The age of imperialism brought about the colonization of smaller weaker countries in Africa, Asia, and the Middle East by the major powers of the world, most notably Britain and France. These colonized countries were used for the benefit, mostly economic, of the mother countries for much of the 19th and 20th centuries. As time went on problems facing the colonial powers toward the end of the 19th century sparked a rapid change of decolonization. Although the decolonization was a major victory for countries seeking independence, in many cases these the damages of colonization caused many issues. The newly independent nations faced countless challenges such as continued interference from colonial powers, neo colonialism, social issues within the state itself, and most notably economic instability. Many saw imperialism, the forceful take over of a weak nation, in a positive way but it sparked many wars, separated countries, families and cultures.
Social Darwinism believed that the fit survived when nations struggle. Racism was linked to social Darwinism because superior races must dominate within or in other terms inferior raced by use of force to prove to them, who is fit. Imperialism also saw religious motives, in which moral responsibility was used to civilize ignorant people, and economic motive.
