The Bodleian Libraries is the library service supporting the University of Oxford. The mission of the Bodleian Libraries is to provide an excellent service to support the learning, teaching and research objectives of the University of Oxford; and to develop and maintain access to Oxford's unique collections for the benefit of scholarship and society. Libraries in the Bodleian Libraries group include the principal University library — the Bodleian Library — which has been a library of legal deposit for years; as well as 27 other libraries across Oxford including major research libraries and faculty, department and institute libraries. The Bodleian Libraries is now the largest academic library service in the UK and one of the largest library services in Europe. Together, the Libraries hold more than 13 million printed items, over 80, e-journals and outstanding special collections including rare books and manuscripts, classical papyri, maps, music, art and printed ephemera.
Phones are currently unmanned with voicemails being accessed intermittently. Psych, Doctor of Medicine, M. Oxford alumni are also invited to deposit a digital copy of their thesis in ORA. ORA contains a growing collection of digital copies of successful Oxford theses submitted as part of research degree awards. ORA provides high visibility and digital preservation for Oxford digital theses and the full content of as many theses as possible are made freely available to be accessed via the Internet. They should be used in accordance with the Terms and Conditions of Use. Your thesis will be made available online following a selected one or three year embargo period unless you have opted for immediate open access or have been granted dispensation from consultation to extend the embargo on your thesis.

The DPhil programme is a full-time three-year programme of doctoral study in Politics or International Relations. The programme is designed primarily for those intending to pursue an academic career: the end product of the programme is the writing of a thesis. Successful completion of an Oxford DPhil requires an intense and sustained level of personal motivation and focus within a world-class research and teaching environment.
